In May 2026, Aleksandra Szmyd appeared as soprano soloist in Anton Bruckner’s “Te Deum” with the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich conducted by Yutaka Sado. The concerts took place on 15 and 17 May at the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna, on 16 May at Auditorium Grafenegg and on 18 May in St. Pölten.
The evening programme was dedicated entirely to Anton Bruckner and included the Symphony in D minor “Nullte”, the motet “Christus factus est” and the monumental “Te Deum” for soloists, mixed choir, organ and orchestra. The performances also featured the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno prepared by Petr Fiala.
Bruckner repertoire performed by an international cast
Aleksandra Szmyd performed alongside mezzo-soprano Anja Mittermüller, tenor Attilio Glaser and bass Edwin Crossley-Mercer. The concerts were conducted by Yutaka Sado, one of the most respected interpreters of Bruckner’s music and a long-time collaborator of the Tonkünstler Orchestra.
The performances in Vienna, Grafenegg and St. Pölten were warmly received by audiences and emphasized the monumental character of Bruckner’s late sacred music. “Te Deum”, considered one of the composer’s most important religious works, combined large-scale choral writing, symphonic orchestral sound and demanding solo parts in Bruckner’s characteristic language of spiritual intensity and monumental expression.
The project formed part of the Tonkünstler concert season and was among the significant symphonic events of the 2026 Austrian concert calendar.
