Aleksandra Szmyd in Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 at Wiener Musikverein

On 8 and 9 June 2025, Aleksandra Szmyd appeared at the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna during performances of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor “Resurrection”. The concerts took place in the Goldener Saal, one of the world’s most renowned concert halls, with the Wiener Akademische Philharmonie conducted by Michał Juraszek.

Aleksandra Szmyd performed the soprano part alongside mezzo-soprano Sofia Vinnik. The monumental work also featured ProChoro Consortium Musicum, Schola Cantorum and Männerchor der Kärntner in Wien. Audiences experienced one of the most significant symphonic works of the late Romantic era, combining large-scale orchestral sound with profound spiritual and emotional intensity.

Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony in the Goldener Saal

Mahler’s Second Symphony remains one of the most demanding works of the symphonic-vocal repertoire. The appearance at the Wiener Musikverein marked another important moment in Aleksandra Szmyd’s international concert activity. The performances were warmly received by Vienna audiences and highlighted both the monumental character of Mahler’s music and the exceptional acoustics of the Goldener Saal.

The concerts were organized by the Wiener Akademische Philharmonie and formed part of the 2025 concert season at the Wiener Musikverein.
